Ongoing / Until the Violence Stops

A tribute to commemorate 234 female journalist/media workers whom have perished in relation to their work. Individually through oil portraiture, collectively with a 3D multi-media art installation, documentary and book. From 1965 until it stops.

This page is a documentation of my progress.

I’m currently studying and researching the 234 women and will start painting the portraits February 2023.

“The United Nations recognises November 2 as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.”
 
The resolution, adopted in 2013, recognised that the killing of a journalist is not only a crime against a human being, but also against fundamental democratic values.

For the majority of the women I will be documenting, no one has been held accountable or sentenced for their deaths.
